Infosys is opening a new campus in West Bengal, which will provide 4,000 job.
New Delhi: Infosys Ltd has just opened a new software development campus in New Town, Kolkata, on Wednesday. The chief minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, was there to cut the ribbon. She mentioned that this new facility will create 4,000 jobs, boost innovation, and help make the state a center for IT excellence. She also pointed out that West Bengal has a lot of talented people, which is why many IT companies are interested in coming here.
According to Infosys, the new development center covers 320,000 square feet and was built with an investment of over ₹426 crore. It can hold more than 4,000 workers who will be able to work in a hybrid model.
Talking about the state’s plans to grow in the IT industry, the chief minister said that West Bengal has launched ‘Bengal Silicon Valley,’ which offers 200 acres of land for development.
You’ll be excited to hear that there’s going to be a huge investment of ₹27,000 crore! This will lead to the creation of 75,000 jobs in the IT sector. The chief minister mentioned that 28 companies have already begun their projects, and 40 more have secured land for their operations. Out of these, 11 companies are working on building data centers.
In West Bengal, there are 22 IT parks established, and nearly 85% of the spaces have already been filled, she added. Banerjee also shared that there are plans to set up a semiconductor production facility in the state.
