In a recent development concerning the Renukaswamy murder case, the Karnataka High Court has granted interim bail to actor Darshan Thoogudeepa for a duration of six weeks. His wife, Vijayalakshmi, visited Ballari Central Jail to facilitate his release following the court’s decision. According to Bar and Bench, Justice S Vishwajith Shetty, serving as a single judge, approved the interim bail application submitted by Darshan to allow him to undergo necessary surgery. The actor faces accusations related to the ongoing investigation into the Renukaswamy murder case. Previously, Darshan had submitted a bail request to the Special Court of Public Representatives, which, along with the plea from Pavithra Gowda, was denied.
On June 11, Darshan, Pavitra Gowda, and several other individuals were apprehended. Since that date, Darshan has remained in police custody. The authorities have transported Darshan and the other suspects to various locations, including Bengaluru, Mysore, and Chitradurga, for further investigation and arrest. To date, approximately 118 items have been confiscated by the police.
What is the case?
Renukaswamy, aged 33 and an admirer of the actor, reportedly sent inappropriate messages to Gowda, which provoked Darshan and ultimately led to his murder, as per police reports. On June 9, his remains were found in Sumanahalli, adjacent to a stormwater drain and an apartment complex. One of the suspects, Raghavendra, a member of Darshan’s fan club in Chitradurga, allegedly lured Renukaswamy to a shed in R R Nagar under the pretense that the actor wished to meet him. It is claimed that he was subsequently tortured and killed in that location. The post-mortem examination revealed multiple blunt force injuries that resulted in hemorrhage and shock in Renukaswamy, who resided in Chitradurga.
