मोबाइल :रिचार्ज के बाद अब TV देखना भी होगा महंगा?

The announcement of an increase in GST on cable TV is set to make television viewing more expensive for consumers. However, numerous cable TV operators are opposing this decision. Recently, telecom companies also raised the prices of mobile recharges.

The recent increase in mobile recharge costs is set to impose an additional financial burden on television viewers. The government has announced a rise in tariffs and GST for cable TV operators. Following the hike in mobile recharge rates, users of private telecom operators such as Airtel, Jio, and Vi expressed their dissatisfaction, leading many to port their numbers to the state-owned BSNL. Consequently, households that watch television will now face higher expenses.

The government has announced an 18% GST on cable television services, prompting protests in various regions, including Tamil Nadu. In conjunction with this announcement, the central government has also declared an increase in channel tariffs. Cable operators are advocating for a reduction of the GST rate from 18% to 5%. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has approved a hike in cable channel tariffs, which has particularly drawn opposition from cable operators in Chennai.

The increase in GST will have a direct impact on millions of consumers across the country. As a result of this hike, customers will face higher expenses for at least a month. For instance, if the current monthly bill for cable television is ₹500, it will now rise to ₹590. Similar to mobile recharge, users will need to allocate more funds for their monthly cable television bills.

The government has pleased over 1.2 billion mobile users in the country by implementing an International Spoofed Calls Prevention System for users of Airtel, BSNL, Jio, and Vi. This announcement was made by Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia during the launch of BSNL’s new logo. Within just 24 hours of the system’s launch, telecom service operators identified and blocked over 13.5 million spoofed international calls.
